Bfore ITP (16/2/2008 Sat and 17/2/2008 Sun):Well the Saturday we went to the chinatown (DANIEL'S TOWN) followed by the beach !!! We watched the sunset finally =) ...
On sunday we went to Marion Shopping Centre for like 1hour? Haha just walk around there ... It was said to be bigger than Suntec City Shopping Centre?Week 1 (18/2/2008 - 22/2/2008):Well practically on week 1 we did nothing major ... Just prepared loads of agars, read safety regulations, prepared agars again and wash the laboratory equipments such as beakers and glass bottles =/ ... Kinda bored isin't it ? Haha well the exciting part is at the back =) ...
Hmm where we go during the weekend? ---> Well we meet out with YingHua at the city on Saturday ... We just slack home on Sunday =/
Week 2 (23/2/2008 - 29/2/2008):Ah prepared more agars and both =/. Finally we get our own samples and did inoculation and finally the ''Traditional way of DNA extraction.'' On friday, we finally get to do the REAL stuff ---> we were given soil samples(contaminated oil soil samples) and did the DNA extraction through the use on a commercial KIT called ''PowerSoil^TM Kit ... It was awesome =)On Sunday, we went to the Belair national park on Sunday and it was like hot ? Hmm... No i shd say damn hot =) ... Saturday we slack home watching some animes that i brought there hahaZ ... Own entertainment ...
Week 3 (30/2/2008 - 7/3/2008):We did PCR !!! The use of the real machine for PCR reaction =) ... If was kinda cool ... Controlled the machine using a HP PDA palm ...We prepared agarose gel for running of DNA that was extracted on the previous week ... Results ? It was good ... Alot better than what we obtain in school ... We could see clear bands !!!
OMG OMG OMG --> We prepared mimimal salt media broth and placed them into 228 red cap tubes !!! Followed by addition of 6 different kind of hydrocarbons (Similar to those of petroleum) into the 228 tubes ...
Haha finally on friday, we get to go to the Southern Waste Depot ... We get to dig some soil that are contaminated with crude oil ... We added fungi that could use the crude oil as carbon source of in another words break down the crude oil ...
Weekend ? ---> SLACK SLACK SLACK ... Cus it was damn hot outside .... =( boo!
Week 4 (10/3/2008-14/3/2008):Haha on monday it was a public holiday for us ---> Adelaide Cup (Horse racing day haha)Well we did more DNA extraction from oil contaminated biopile soil samples ...
Did PCR again haha ... DNA extraction using commercial kit again ...Went to the Southern Waste Depot again ... Well it was a really good experience working with the people in the lab ... They had much more higher education qualification than us ...
Weekend ---> not here yet leh so cant tell u guys much ... Dunno where azhar wanna go DANG!
Week 5 ---> Not here yet lah !!! Dun expect =/ ... Well we will most likely be going back to the depot again =) . OH Ya we will hafta check the 228 tubes for growth and write down our findings haha ...
